The honest answer matters more than a reassuring one, so here it is. Yes, we use a biocide — as does every disinfectant. At Pure Maintenance UK we deliver a service using authorised actives rather than selling a product, and everything is applied under a COSHH assessment by trained technicians in PPE. Occupants and pets leave during treatment. The active does its work while the house is empty, then breaks down to acetic acid (vinegar), water and oxygen and is ventilated out. No lasting disinfectant residue.
Our 'dry fog' is the means by which we treat household mould, so that it can be removed and its return resisted. It's important to note, however, that the fogging is just a part of a wider treatment plan. We operate under Dewpoint-accredited technical governance. InstaPURE: Our dry fog solution to treat mould
Our technology is patented and was created in the USA. We are the exclusive UK licensees of our parent company Pure Maintenance. This is important as the entire process was created to comply with strict US regulations. We deliver a service using authorised actives rather than selling a product. We apply InstaPURE under a COSHH assessment to oxidise and destroy the living mould and its spores, then prove the result with independent lab analysis.
InstaPURE breaks down into acetic acid (vinegar), water and oxygen, leaving no lasting disinfectant residue.
More importantly, the patented fogger we use to administer InstaPURE forces the active into such a small particle size that it is unable to condense. This is what gives the fog its characteristic 'dryness'. This means the fog doesn't condense on surfaces but rather dwells in the air. It's this property that lets InstaPURE reduce airborne mould spores and bring down the airborne mycotoxin load. The fogger creates positive air pressure by filling the airspace with InstaPURE until the entire volume of the room is filled. We treat in a sealed room and hold the fog there for a full dwell period, so it reaches every exposed surface the air touches — into folds and recesses a cloth can't. This is reach and contact, rather than penetration into materials. Because it can't condense, once we open the windows upon concluding the first phase of treatment, the air pressure falls and the active disperses. Once the windows are open and the room's aired out, no lasting disinfectant residue remains in the home you return to.
EverPURE: Our solution to help resist regrowth
EverPURE is our antimicrobial coating. We apply it once the mould in the home has been treated and wiped away. It bonds to the surfaces it's applied to, giving a durable antimicrobial layer that helps resist regrowth. The coating is made up of positively charged nitrogen molecules with carbon atoms stacked on top. Microscopically, it looks like a bed of nails as the carbon atoms create a spike. New pathogens introduced to the property following our treatment are electrostatically attracted to the positive charge and the carbon spike pierces the outer membrane, denaturing the microbe.
As with InstaPURE, EverPURE is applied under a COSHH assessment; the actives are authorised at manufacturer level. We deliver a service rather than selling a product. We do recommend storing any food in cupboards or refrigerators as it can affect the taste of the food.
Furthermore, EverPURE is a mineral-based solution. This is important as the way in which it deals with mould is mechanical. In other words, it doesn't change the organic property of a mould cell. It physically disrupts it.
